語言非常易懂，講瞭很多儀式在建造佛像或者寺廟的過程和意義，包括說到瞭monotheism, 多個神並沒有減少每個神的意義。 Eck這本書寫的非常緊湊易懂，一共就100頁左右。主要講瞭印度去看佛像也是被佛像注視，也就是被神注視。還講瞭一些佛像的儀式為瞭把神請到佛像裏。還有iconoclast，與西方完全不一樣，毀滅重造也是傳統的一部分。說到瞭像我們這種沒有知識的人，需要學習印度的文化知識纔能理解佛像。
