Painter Mark Beard exists in a world predominantly filled with beautiful men. Not only does he paint in the 1920s style of his imaginary gay great uncle Bruce Sergeant, he rounds out his body of work with paintings 'by' Bruce's circle of friends and associates: his French academist teacher, avant-garde lesbian best friend, and German expressionist arch-rival.
