没有太多的感觉。不如她的那本自传。当然从她的外婆的这本小传，可以看出基因的伟大。

主人公第一个丈夫是个油嘴滑舌的人，自己有了老婆，还是和主人公结婚了。当时觉得主人公的经历好特别，经历过前男友的事情后觉得只是自私冷漠无情无义的另一种表现形式罢了。主人公的第二个丈夫就很好，主人公怀疑过他和别人出轨来着，还跟踪过他，他丈夫也就好好跟她解释表衷心了（顿时想起我看到前男友和某文科女生的聊天记录他立刻就把密码改了。。。）这本书挺好看的，当年觉得戏剧，现在觉得写实，喜欢坚强的女主角和喜欢坚强女主角的她的丈夫

作为《the glass castle》的前传，这本书要好看更多！比起 Jeannette 的姥姥来，她妈妈不论从人物性格、为人处世还是人生经历上来说都逊色好多。感觉这本书更适合拍成电影。这本书里作者提到了《Gone with the Wind》我觉得作者挺知道自己的书该往哪个方向靠的，姥姥的 gut/gumption 确实颇有斯嘉丽的风采。这种写法确实聪明，让读者产生熟悉感。关于 Jeannette 的妈妈怎么会长成那样的一个母亲，这完全是另外一个有关 nature v.s. nurture 的故事了。读完这两本书，我觉得世界上绝大多数父母应该都不知道 what they did right/wrong to end up with the kids of their own 吧。
