This is the story of my cousin, the actress
Alexandra Reed, as I remember it myself
and as I have been able to reconstruct it
from the recollections of others.
My_cousin Alexandra-Axie--always
sensed that her life was worth recording--
"there s a book in it, maybe a cautionary
tale," she said on one occasion. She knew
that she herself would not write it--"l
couldn t sit still for it, too nervous, too
flighty, no talent, something. You do it."
l never dreamed that I would, but then 1
never dreamed--no one did--of what
would happen at the Parrish Art Museum
Ball in Southampton, Long Island, in the
summer of 1981.
