鲁迅在《中国小说史略》中言及：清末促狭小说实宗于《红楼梦》，“摹绘柔情，敷陈艳迹，精神所在，实无不同……”，而自《海上花列传》始，“实写妓家，曝其奸谲……而红楼梦在促狭小说之泽，亦自此而斩也。” 《海上花列传》，有红楼梦的面子，却是儒林外史的里子...  

读《海上花》，不出俗套还是从张爱玲的那一线引来。看了惊异之下，竟觉得比《红楼梦》还要好。就好比一个是唱的牡丹亭，一个是演的长生殿。良辰美景听多了，顿时一脸冷水浸下来，一句“妃子呀”倒有讲不出的沉闷和哀苦。又看了张爱玲翻译的国语版《海上花开》及《海上花落》，...  

鲁迅的《中国小说史略》中'其訾倡女之无深情，虽责善于非所，而记载如实，绝少夸张，则固能自践其“写照传神，属辞比事，点缀渲染，跃跃如生”'. 最后的考证也比较意思. 书中人物，亦多实有，而悉隐其真姓名，〔14〕惟不为赵朴斋讳。相传赵本作者挚友，时济以金，久而厌绝...  

这本书没有湮没应该要感谢张爱玲吧！ 实在是因为她的喜爱和翻译才得以流传下来的吧！ 虽然老早鲁迅和胡适都给了很中肯的评价：平淡自然。 电影拍得也不错，不过没看过原著的人估计有点难看懂。 而且感觉电影有些美化沈小红了，能微微感觉到导演和编者的好恶， 不如原著这么着...
