用福柯the birth of the clinic里的理论来解释英国医学与社会/文学之发展的关系的确不恰当，英法德三国的医学发展史虽有交叉但仍有差别，所以进入具体的文化语境比强行使用理论要讨好得多。不知作者在引用德国阐释学理论来解读romantic materialism时有没有意识到同样的问题？本书有几个词感觉意义很相近，如romantic materialism，romantic hermeneutics，甚至包括natural theology和two books这些。总体来讲理论与文本结合效果不错（第五章除外），在了解一定的英国医学史和哲学史的基础上比较容易理解。没太多晦涩难懂的句子和概念但思路逻辑都清晰，更是难得。一翻致谢部分，果然是半路出家的学者，所受桎梏少了很多视野也更开阔。
