著者簡介

Cathy Park Hong is the author of three poetry collections including Dance Dance Revolution, chosen by Adrienne Rich for the Barnard Women Poets Prize, and Engine Empire. Hong is a recipient of the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Her poems have been published in Poetry, The New York Times, The Paris Review, McSweeney’s, Boston Review, and other journals. She is the poetry editor of The New Republic and full professor at the Rutgers University–Newark MFA program in poetry.

This administration has plans to reopen a Japanese internment camp in Oklahoma to fill up with Latin American children. I used to wonder what happened to the internment camp survivors. Why did they disappear? Why didn’t they ever speak out? “We need to be the allies for vulnerable communities today that Japanese Americans didn’t have in 1942.”

作者是對白人統治的主流文化圈層、曆史上的殖民統治、帝國主義是有多大的憎恨啊（甚至於把所有第三世界國傢的危機全部歸因於白人）。某種程度上，她確實代錶瞭很多Asian American的心聲，並且是這些minor feelings和inner struggles唯一的疏解渠道。我理解。但是換個視角去反思一下，其實中國有意思的在於，我們自己的確犯瞭很多的錯誤，這讓我們有更多的空間真誠地反省自身，而不是把一切都責怪白人；再有，我們有一個自帶的大受眾群，也讓我們的疏解不至於仍然隻能被主流英語受眾所接受。最近一直在想如何平衡兩種語境——說不定，“找不同”是最好的方式。
