柴納．米耶維（China Mieville）

1972年齣生於英格蘭的諾裏奇（Norwich）， 18歲進入劍橋大學就讀社會人類學之前，曾在埃及教瞭一年英文，因此對阿拉伯文化以及中東政治產生極大興趣。1995年取得倫敦政經學院的國際關係碩士學位。碩士畢業後，曾於哈佛大學就讀，但覺得當地生活過於拘謹，缺乏地下文化，於是又迴到倫敦政經學院，後獲頒國際法學博士，並於2005年齣版博士論文《對等權利之間：國際法的馬剋思主義理論》。

米耶維也是個積極的政治參與者，2001年曾代錶社會主義者聯盟（the Socialist Alliance）參選英國下議院議員；也曾在抗議事件中遭到拘捕。也因此他的作品往往瀰漫著濃厚的政治批判色彩。

米耶維是「新怪譚」文類的代錶文類，作品結閤科幻與奇幻，但以真實世界為創作藍本，關注現實社會議題。他計畫在每一個類型都各寫一本小說，目前已纍積的作品有美國西部小說《Iron Council》、海洋冒險小說《The Scar》、青少年小說《偽倫敦》，以及推理懸疑小說《被謀殺的城市》等。這些作品雖分屬不同類型，但皆建構在想像或超自然的時空。

目前在英國華威剋大學教授創意寫作。
