V~ebegin with an overview of the resort" designed to give yogafeel for the overall resort is it old and quaint or modern andhigh-rise, clustered at the base of the slopes or a few milesdown the road, remote and isolated or around the bend fromanother resort, family oriented or catering to singles, walkablewith good shuttlebusses or requiring a car, filled with happyfriendly faces or an aloof crowd of beautiful skiers. A deta]led description of where to ski follows with a moun-tain rating. We describe an approach to exploring the mountainbased on your abilities and in the mountain rating we attemptto classify whether the resort is best for beginner, intermediateor expert skiers, or more importantly which resorts either thebeginner looking for the mellow, or the expert looking for theextreme, may choose to avoid. Cross-country information is included for trails which manyresorts have added to their network and significant cross-coun-try and backcountry skiing opportunities nearby the resort.
