There s a lake in the little valley behind our house that s a lovely sight. In the summer , canoes and sometimes a sailboat or two can be seen gliding lazily along it usually calm waters . In winter , skaters often crisscross the ice--covered surface in easy , graceful patterns. Every year in March of early April , seagulls appear from out of nowhere , and spend a copule of weeks feasting on easy --to --catch fish from the almost dry lake bed and gracing our lives with the beaty of their long , seeping flights and haunting calls.
