In Mexico,Esperanza lives like una reina,a
queen．She lives on a big，beautiful ranch with
Papa，Mama，and her grandmother，Abuelita.Then
something terrible happens，and Esperanza
and Mama must leave Mexico．They go to
California to work in
the fields，something
Esperanza has never done!She overcomes this
problem，but many more follow．Mama becomes
ill，Abuelita cannot join them，and angry workers
threaten her job．Has she lost everything，or will
she find the strength to rise above her problems?
