These eye-catching but flawed board books are vividly illustrated with full-color， labeled photographs of everyday objects related to a particular theme. Clothes and Garden picture easily recognizable items; Food has objects that will be a little more difficult to identify， e.g.， rice (with peas and shrimp mixed with it) and a baked potato (stuffed with what appears to be a mixture of green onions， corn， and chicken). These titles have no logical organization or grouping other than their broad topic. Garden， for example， features carrots， a squirrel， a butterfly， gardening gloves， and a bucket on one spread. Part of language development is learning to make associations， and these books fail to help children do that.
