Chapter One<br > Field Day<br > The Joyland Scream-a-rama roller coaster spun<br >out of control. The cars careened around the curves at<br >breakneck speed. I clenched the bar as our car s seat<br >harness cracked， snapped， and then popped open.<br >The car seat swung wildly back and forth. Sandra<br >lurched forward and almost fell out of the seat. I<br >grabbed her just in time. She squeezed my arm tightly.<br > I could see the attendant down below wrestling the<br >lever to stop the giant roller coaster. Sandra s screams<br >pierced the air， cracking one of my glasses lenses.<br > "Hang on， San&a，" I said as I squeezed her arm<br >and tried to hold her inside the car.<br > Sandra kept screaming something over and over.<br >"
