关于“算法”逐渐深入我们生活的方方面面（消费、医疗、保险、执法等等）的情况的论述以及所造成的社会、伦理等各方面的冲击以及可能的解决方案和未来前景。虽然其中大部分例子是统计或者机器学习范畴下的算法，但是书确实是从更加宽泛定义的“算法”作为着眼点来讲的。全书采用一种比较中立的态度来讲，举了很多从非常早期（计算机发明之前）的一些算法应用和非常新（2018）的一些例子，可以看出作者做了很多功课。比较有趣的点主要在意一方面可以了解一些有意思的知识比如超市为什么愿意免费帮你办会员卡或者无人驾驶车的早期尝试和历史，另一方面又能看到一些“当前时代”的名词（诸如 Uber、Alexa、Black Mirror、Tesla、腾讯优图等等）。

大概对这本书有点期望过高，读起来略微失望。涵盖面很广，讨论却不够深入，范范而谈，把之前听过的各种AI有关的奇闻异事串了一遍，适合茶余饭后闲翻打发时光。
