讀再多科學、哲學的“死書”，都比不上喝一次死藤水帶來的幻象讓人靈魂顫抖，我想作者也是十分有勇氣拋棄多年的“科學訓練”帶來的濾鏡來寫這本書：他認為全世界創世神話都分享的母題，以纏繞的雙鏈蛇代錶生命之本質（比如延續至今的醫院、救護車上的赫耳墨斯之杖caduceus，以及我能想到中國的蛇身伏羲女媧），是薩滿們在緻幻物質下影響看到的DNA。之前讀Campbell的神話比較學，我對蛇的跨民族普世崇拜（並且總是與生命樹、智慧聯係在一起）也感到很baffling. “靈長類對蛇在進化過程中刻入DNA的恐懼”這個理論也不太說得過去，因為對蜘蛛的恐懼並沒有催生齣蜘蛛崇拜。總之這本書的內容是形而上學的範疇，也無法實證，但有助於開闊眼界，可試著放鬆一下對純理性的、materialist的世界觀的執著。
