邹至庄，于中国广州成长，之后留学及定居美国，于美国普林斯顿大学执教三十年。自60年代创下“THE CHOW’S TEST”，蜚声国际。普林斯顿大学计量研究计划便以其名字为名。列计量经济学泰斗。

作者著作甚丰，文章过百篇，单学术书籍已出版11本；本书是他唯一的非学术著作，旨在普及人们对中国的认识。
