比不上前几本Jeeves & Wooster系列书。开头的设定极有趣，可惜故事始终不愠不火，没有达到设定的潜力。除了Bertie去温布登那段让人大笑外，书中还散落着其他让人会心一笑的段落，但不像The Code of the Woosters，多处让人笑抽筋的地方。而且虽然人物大致还是Wodehouse类型的人物，但不知为什么，在这个故事里，除了Bertie和Jeeves，其他人都让人觉得有些烦（之前的故事人物再傻也不会让人讨厌），尤其是Fink-Nottle，是不是Wodehouse觉得newt的笑料不新鲜了，为了增加新笑料把他写得和之前完全不一样……
