大都会博物馆的杰作，帕加马祭坛是希腊艺术的顶级杰作，虽然很残破了，但即使从仅存的一些石头，就能看到无比震撼的肌肉和线条，我认为帕加马祭坛的雕塑是希腊艺术的最高峰，而且这本书可不单纯是介绍展览中的每一件展品，丰富的历史知识和一流的印刷，更使其成为古希腊文化爱好者的饕餮大餐。当然，财大气粗的大都会博物馆的每一个超级大展，其展出的作品本身也都是领域内最好的，这些无比精美的希腊化文物，会带给观众大开眼界的感觉。

论文部分比较浅显，只是择取了几条主线来梳理希腊化艺术及其社会文化语境。图录部分非常重要，除了借不出来的，基本囊括了英美德意希收藏的最重要、最具代表性的希腊化文物，时期上和载体上都很齐全，参考文献截止2015，援引了很多新观点，对若干归属和年代素来聚讼纷纭的器物亦有新的判读。

没有古罗马人对于希腊文明的开放态度和欣赏品味，没有文艺复兴。那真的是一个很神奇的时期。
