Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments, a talent that wins him a place at a brutal academy for Hitler Youth, then a special assignment to track the resistance. More and more aware of the human cost of his intelligence, Werner travels through the heart of the war and, finally, into Saint-Malo, where his story and Marie- Laure's converge.

戰爭給每一個人帶來的都是不可磨滅的傷痕

/看的第二本英文原著/兩綫敘事pov寫法，結構精妙。說來慚愧，本來是衝著言情情節去看的，實際上法國盲女和德國男孩的相遇總共也不到一天。小說大篇幅還是寫各自命運如同河流一般，二戰使他們交匯，也很快使他們分開。單純、聰明的德國男孩因為戰爭成為無名的國傢機器。後天盲疾的法國女孩因為戰爭失去父親，滯留在海邊的法國小鎮。Werner和Marie看上去莫名其妙的愛戀是浪漫的，更是殘酷的。結尾已經做祖母的Marie俯視整個巴黎，她聽到那麼多的聲音，那些密密麻麻的交流電視廣播。而在她的十六歲，她隻有一颱藏在閣樓的收音機。還喜歡結尾jutta去法國找Marie那段情節，已經長大的德國女人在法國列車上，看到法國人，內心拼命想著“他們一定認齣我瞭，或許我聞上去就像個德國人。”不用一個詞兒說教，這還不夠反戰嗎？

兩條綫索穿插，兩條本在平行空間的生命綫最終交匯，結構安排挺有巧思，但轟炸聖馬洛往後的故事在全書中七零八碎，本來有的緊張感每次都被打斷，並沒有很明白這樣處理的意義。作者有感於今天更即時也更取消距離感的交流方式，寫下上個世紀由無綫電信號織構的連結網絡，那個世界是看不到也不要緊的。就像女主，就像緊閉在頭顱內的大腦（收音機播音中提到），即使窅然無光也能創造一道無光的光、一片沒有光源的天地、一種無需會麵的相識；而在寶石和戰爭的那一麵，同樣的不可見（無可憑依的傳說，關於血統和偉業的幻念）又能勾攝齣攫取的欲望、無妄的狂熱。

這是我讀的最長的一本書。好幾次在哭。結尾其實有點無趣瞭/周四下午跑完步，四點多排在學一五色水餃的隊伍裏。站在無障礙通道的斜坡上，陽光柔和又摻雜著樹影。
