Andrews McMeel offers a new edition of this timeless story originally published in 1963, complete with the author's unique illustrations.Cowboy's Secret Life weaves a wonderful tale of one special boy's life, both real and imagined. The illustrations are drawn in two colors; black represents the boy's actual world of home and school, and green depicts an imaginary realm of brave knights, fierce snakes, and swooping aliens. On rainy days, the cowboy believes he's a sailor on rough seas. On lazy days, he envisions his bedroom rug as a magic carpet that takes him to an exotic world of genies and palaces. When he chases his cat, he imagines he's getting the better of a ferocious lion.Cowboy's Secret Life is a follow-up to Cowboy and His Friend, initially published in 1961 with sales of 150,000 copies, and The Brave Cowboy, first published in 1959 with sales of 250,000 copies. The three books, inspired by Joan's son as a young boy, combine to create a wonderful trio that appeal to children everywhere.
