具体描述
A nuclear bomb destroys Jerusalem on Christmas Day, 2009. As finger-pointing from all sides begins, the world's largest economy, already hanging on by a thread, is thrown into an economic abyss along with the economies of the other G8 countries. The solution to both the West's imminent bankruptcy and its dependence on the "black gold" controlled by the Middle East is a return to the gold standard and a new age of Western manifest destiny. Just one problem: where on Earth - or beyond - to find enough gold to regain world supremacy Sam Noble, an Everyman with a troubled past and a dream, and an obsession with history, gold, and Western movies, is the protagonist of parts and author of yet other parts of this complex saga, which expertly weaves together threads of historical fact, speculation, and fictional invention. Combining Biblical and Mithraic legend, mysteries of ancient civilizations, the Holy Grail, the 1400-year-old war between the West and the Islamic world, manifest destiny, the gold standard, and a powerful yet amoral Washington think-tank, along with a 12th-century Templar Knight who still guards the secret to immortality in contemporary Georgetown, Noble's Gold is a must-read for all fans of Da Vinci Code-style intricate intellectual conspiracy novels.
