从public opinion角度研究political culture，然后用了各种political psychology和political behavior的（尤其是来自西方的）东西来解释中国的情况。怎么说呢，很有参考价值。不过看作者这么硬塞有时候都替他觉得辛苦（尤其是social capital那一块）；以及empirical的部分略一般（虽然加上list experiment这个部分还算用心），现在看大的regression table真的觉得头疼了……

作为一本学术著作很好看了。points: ch2区分了vertical political support; ch3 interrogates consequences of nationalism (reduce demand for democratization and civil disobedience); ch6: central government purposely exploits public anger towards local authorities to gain support; ch8 survey experiment in authoritarian setting。Empirical part有点东拼西凑，但整体来说还好。
