Fiona Maye is a High Court judge in London presiding over cases in family court. She is fiercely intelligent, well respected, and deeply immersed in the nuances of her particular field of law. Often the outcome of a case seems simple from the outside, the course of action to ensure a child's welfare obvious. But the law requires more rigor than mere pragmatism, and Fiona is expert in considering the sensitivities of culture and religion when handing down her verdicts.

评分從《甜牙》到《兒童法案》，麥剋尤恩寫女性心理真是刻畫入微/故事情節簡單清晰，但因為判決留有懸念、婚姻存續留有懸念，就始終吊著一顆心，到最後聖誕演奏會更是讓人覺得有什麼不得瞭的大事在醞釀，幾乎不帶停地一路看完瞭/那樣美好那樣年輕那樣激情的生命，就這樣摧摺瞭，令人唏噓，Fiona做齣的判決挽留瞭他的生命，卻以意想不到的方式讓他繼重燃希望後體驗幻滅，棄世而去/對宗教的探討也有意思，病孩父母竟然會在知道判決後喜極而泣，顛覆瞭病孩的世界觀，沒有精神依靠的他隻好另尋齣路，卻無路可走/自帶BGM的小說，這句評語說得太好瞭
