著者简介

詹姆斯·多尔蒂(James Daugherty)(1889-1974)，现代派画家、壁画家、作家、童书插画家。1889年出生于美国北卡罗来纳州的阿什维尔(Asheville)，在印第安纳州和俄亥俄州长大。9岁时搬到华盛顿。曾就读于可可然艺术学校和宾州美术学院。后又去伦敦学习，师从艺术大师弗兰克·勃朗琼。多尔蒂曾为很多作家的作品绘制插图。他创作的《丹尼尔·布恩》》(Daniel Boone)荣获1940年纽伯瑞儿童文学奖(Newbery Medal)，《安迪与狮子》荣获1939年凯迪克大奖，他和本杰明·埃尔金合作的《吉莱斯皮和守卫》(Gillespie and the Guards)荣获1957年凯迪克大奖。其他作品还有《亚伯拉罕·林肯》(Abraham Lincoln)(1943年)、《无所畏惧》(Of Courage Undaunted)(1951年)、《威廉·布莱克》(William Blake)(1960年)、《号手：拉尔夫·沃尔多·爱默生》(The Sound of Trumpets: Ralph Waldo Emerson)(1971年)等。詹姆斯·多尔蒂去世于1974年。
