informational topologist with half his mind gone — as an
interface between here and there, a conduit through
which the Dead Center might hope to understand
the Bleeding Edge.
You send them all to the edge of interstellar space, praying you
can trust such freaks and retrofits with the fate of a world.
You fear they may be more alien than the thing they've
been sent to find.
But you'd give anything for that to be true, if you
only knew what was waiting for them...

評分 評分一月刊入手很早，但是读完却很晚。主要是被《盲视》折腾得死去活来。瞧见封面上的长篇主打宣传语，心想这和“黑暗森林”如出一辙的故事应该很“好”读，但是埋头读下去才发现，原来编辑的导读是忽悠。的确《盲视》中关于“接触”的观点和大刘有些相似，但是文中真正探讨的其实...

什麼時候還是搞一本原文來看看……說什麼能和黑暗森林相比，黑暗森林和這個比就是渣呀，渣……
评分Well if this isn’t mind-fucking I don’t know what it is. 大概看明白瞭。然而並沒有真正明白。一大半生詞沒有中文解釋。（至少電子版的內置辭典裏沒有）唯一欣慰的是發現中文版的讀者短評也都是“文字太難啃瞭”。所以，至少艱澀感翻譯過去瞭？確定自己讀懂的一個梗是“羅夏”，未知的外星物體取這麼個名字真是令人迴味無窮。迴頭一想，一個發生在deep space的冒險故事，探討的（其中一個）核心卻是人類自我意識的冗餘性，有點反諷。本來以為主角叫做Siri純屬巧閤，看完故事就覺得其實跟蘋果的Siri有點共通之處。這個故事有沒有漫畫呢？好想再看個白話版的。
评分下一本應該要來讀個輕鬆一點的科幻小說，這本真的太難啃，跟 The Quantum Thief 一樣，作者完全就是個設定控，他們不解釋！
评分還不錯。小說抹黑自由意誌，但其中反自由意誌的論述又不是特彆讓人信服。
评分“滿眼都是星星，不可勝數，我無論如何也無法理解，有這樣多的星星，天空又怎能如此黑暗。星星，以及－－虛無。”
