人都應該有一個人真的ultimate concern。所謂真，就是它是永恒的，不然最終都會破滅，帶來不好的結果。現代人的最典型的假的ultimate concern就是成功和nationalism。所以可能隻有不斷追求內心深處的欲望，心懷天下，大愛，而不是世俗的標準纔能獲得真正的快樂。

所謂 ultimate concerns 在中文語境中得“終極關懷”可能有不一樣的詮釋，“終極關懷”一定跟信仰相關麼？特彆是Tillich 擴大這種“關懷”到社會和政治領域，以及其本身的“民族主義”興起的大背景下，何為“終極”還是不夠清楚。
