维多利亚的成长小说，女人成长到最后也还摆脱不了男人，Madame Beck多骄傲的人啊，仍然渴望着结婚。社会现状如此，不是小说家的责任。小说里充满了窥伺，会是个极佳的话题。成长小说的叙事语气也很有意思，在这方面，这部小说可以算是一个范本。
