Pico Iyer是西方很受尊敬的旅行作家，强烈的后现代写作风格。经常见到整页的华丽词藻，却不解其意。本书的亮点是作者对日本的很多文化和现象有新发现或者独到的评论,也有不少妙语。例如 --Christmas cake --> metaphor of women's age "Which is why girls over the age of 25...

两年半以后，再读当年弃下的书，完成了全书，才发觉Pico Iyer的真，遣词的功夫虽强，却不曾浮于内容之上。当年的书评鄙陋了。追发两句。我很确信，这是一本我经常会想重温的书，喜欢它所描绘的意境。希望会有更多的人来关注这本书。
