在眼下的情形中重读越战如何发生是有必要的。没有人比肯尼迪这一代人更像美国这种理想主义国家的完美产物（此处语义并不是褒义的），高大帅气，富有才智，通情达理，愿意为了自己的理想而献身。他们是一个追求成就的商业化社会的地地道道的代表，相信努力和做好事就有好报。唯一不合理的是那场战争。当然整段话反义过来理解才是现实主义的那些事情，美国的意识形态和苏联并没有本质区别，冷战的问题从来都是“普世主义”意识形态之争。当这条路走不通之后，七十年代世界就变了。至于我，我依然呼唤老欧洲。

韩战、越战之所以变成大悲剧都算时Illusion造成的，我们的洪杨之乱则直接由发烧引起。

从个体命运视角审视大历史，大逻辑欠佳，却显出历史的另一种真切。从窥探美国上流社会的生活轶事和个人史来讲，是非常有趣的阅读体验。对services（忘了是这个名字吗）的故事和bundy的故事最为喜欢，印象深刻。
