He was the founding vice-president of the Foundation for Economic Education and an early editor of The Freeman magazine, an influential libertarian publication. Hazlitt wrote Economics in One Lesson , his seminal work, in 1946. Concise and instructive, it is also deceptively prescient and far-reaching in its efforts to dissemble economic fallacies that are so prevalent they have almost become a new orthodoxy.

Many current economic commentators across the political spectrum have credited Hazlitt with foreseeing the collapse of the global economy which occurred more than 50 years after the initial publication of Economics in One Lesson . Hazlitt’s focus on non-governmental solutions, strong — and strongly reasoned — anti-deficit position, and general emphasis on free markets, economic liberty of individuals, and the dangers of government intervention make Economics in One Lesson , every bit as relevant and valuable today as it has been since publication.

著者簡介

亨利‧赫茲利特（Henry Hazlitt）

美國20世紀最重要的經濟專欄作傢，《福布斯》雜誌總編輯斯蒂夫•福布斯尊稱他為“20世紀最傑齣的經濟新聞人”，當代“自由至上主義者”運動的重要參與者，奧地利經濟學派的重要成員。

他曾供職於《華爾街日報》、《紐約郵報》，後來又為《紐約時報》撰寫經濟方麵的文章。1946～1966年，他在《新聞周刊》開設固定專欄，撰寫經濟學普及文章，引導數百萬讀者瞭解經濟學基礎知識，傳播自由經濟理念，影響力極為深遠。

《一課經濟學》是他的第一本重要著作，這本書1946年一齣版即成為當時的暢銷書，至今已被翻譯成8種文字，在全球銷量早已突破百萬。他一生勤於寫作，撰寫瞭18本專著和無數的評論文章。其重要著作還有《道德的基礎》、《凱恩斯經濟學批判》等。

Hazlitt很誠懇，時時不忘提醒自己和讀者：this is an introduction book for general economics. 很多我們（中國人）司空見慣的政府對經濟操控的事實和做法仔細分析看來都是short sighted fallacies.

The goal of economic science is to see the problem as a whole, and not in a fragments.Govenment's main function is to encourage and preserve a free macket, but actually the Government always benefits single group at the expense of all. The example of inflation in this book especially impresses me.
