评分I think macrbre is the best word for lovecraft..there is a thin line between emotionally gruesome and imaginatively enticing..but my purpose has always been on the text itself..it is not summer fun, as far as it goes, but it is a great display of a writer's range of mind..
评分實際上假設能夠與Edgar Alan Poe作文本比較，會發現Lovecraft迷戀的是前者故事裏泄露齣的詭秘逼仄而非所謂文字扭扭轉轉。Alan Poe筆下那些精彩的遣詞用句來一步步撥動讀者心弦的舉動，放在Lovecraft那裏則成瞭玄奇故事的緩緩發展，於是Lovecraft願意把故事講得更乾淨完整，故事篇幅拉伸得更長，從而不管是為瞭解釋還是為瞭迎閤創造的“Eerie Creature”，他把故事靠嚮未知卻又知非常明瞭的區域，看上去這是一步Gambit，但在慢慢探索的過程中，原本的恐怖隱秘也會變得Antic。
