杜鲁门是屌丝出身的总统，没上过大学，农民出身，当过兵，和人合开过服装饰品店，一辈子都在为钱而操心，对朋友忠心，说话满嘴跑火车得罪了不少文化人，如果不是小罗斯福的逝世而由副总统继位，他自己能当上总统的可能性微乎其微。然，一辈子大风大浪，下令投原子弹，打冷战，打韩战，马歇尔计划援助欧洲。虽然本书得了普利策奖，文字还是有些啰嗦。推荐。

非常之人必来自非常家族语言平实，前半部分略显啰嗦。Tom Pendergast几个大佬身上隐约看到了《大西洋帝国》的原型。没有读过大学的美国总统。
