博斯的主要三聯畫都收錄瞭，還有很多放大的局部圖，可以觀察細節。全書4/5都在扯閑篇，隻有1/5的篇幅分析瞭“聖安東尼的誘惑”。作者的觀點可以概括為，博斯既非神經病也不是在畫裏暗藏邪經的異端分子，其所畫者自有傳承和依據，即魔鬼學、巫術、塔羅、煉金術，等等。不過他沒解釋為什麼畫地獄的那麼多，隻有博斯的地獄最變態。
