Goodreads上面一个人说得好，Edith Wharton 写写她熟知的上层社会故事就好，农民和妓女的还是留给莫泊桑和毛姆这样了解他们的。

2014.5.5—6.6 路上十分钟二十分钟地读，薄薄的一本花了这么多天才看完。Edith写少女幽暗委婉心事，真是美极了。就像看一朵花含苞，盛放，又悄悄地凋零，说不出地黯然。

描写得相当有文采。结尾像《杀死一只知更鸟》一样令人意外。比《傲慢与偏见》深刻。
