This work is based on interviews with 11 distinguished, but quite different, architects. The resulting case studies illustrate their works and their design processes, which are interpreted, compared and commented on by Bryan Lawson using the models in "How Designers Think", his earlier text. Their processes are also illustrated by original design drawings. The book provides an alternative approach by investigating the main issues in the thought process behind a designers work. It amplifies the ideas in "How Designers Think" in which the author applied his professional knowledge of process design. A number of key themes that arise out of the interviews are discussed by Bryan Lawson in a final chapter. The architects in the book have been chosen to represent a wide variety of backgrounds. They are at different stages in their lives and careers, and work in different countries and on different sorts of projects. This book should appeal to students and practising architects and designers.
