讀到目前最喜歡的故事。故事討論的是nature of women，講故事人是個挑戰中世紀道德禮法的女性，一輩子有五個丈夫，很擅長引誘和控製男人，毫不掩飾地說自己嫁人就是為瞭錢和性，而且是閤法享受並不是通奸。她的存在似乎就是對男性指責女性是“wicked wife”這一stereotype的嘲弄。在她的故事裏，女人是男人的教育者，“女人最想要的是對男人的控製”這個答案貼切地描述瞭講故事者一生的追求。然而，在故事的最後，女人雖得到瞭對男人的控製權，卻心甘情願地順從瞭男人的願望，不得不讓人為nature of women到底為何物産生疑惑。作為故事中的故事，Chaucer纔是這個故事真正的講述者，他最後的設計或許體現瞭他對女性的根本看法。anti-feminism和feminism交織，跌宕迷人。
