Here, we offer you as a tribute a special photo collection called A Survey of Tibet.

Tibet, the southwestern territory of the Chinese nation, is world-famous for her grandeur, vastness, miracle and magnificence, because she has for her own a vast stretch of rich land which has been rearing a great nation. Ever since the ancient time, people in Tibet have created a rich and brilliant national culture. With her long history and magnificent rivers and mountains, Tibet has her own singular local conditions and customs, fairy natural resources. Everywhere in Tibet, you can see Tibetan Buddhists with scarlet costumes and yellow hats. If you can come personally to Tibet and drink in her graceful bearings, you will surely be in a maze or drunk, and praise her singularity subconsciously.

Yet for years, people from all walks of life, both at home and abroad, have known very little about Tibet. Even within limited knowledge, there always unavoidably consists of some compositions which like measuring the ocean with a dipper. Facing the incessantly changing world, it has become a necessity for us to introduce and popularize Tibet correctly, all-sidely, form different angles and with various measures. Just for this purpose, we have compiled and published this photo collection.

With a unique form, A Survey of Tibet gathered together a large number of photos and pictures about the History of Evolution in Tibet, the Culture and Art, the Local Conditions and Folk Customs, and the Natural Resources, etc. With a principle of authenticity and reliability yet not without vividness and interestingness, we have drawn an outline of the colorful and attractive Tibet, and are trying to lead you, with the help of the clues of photos and pictures provided in this photo collection, to those ancient and remote years, to set foot on those strange yet novel soil, and following the footprints of the pilgrims to visit those splendid old temples with some historic fame, to appreciate those Tibetan cultures and arts, to taste those exotic atmospheres with different custom, and to travel among those icebergs and snow mountains…… This is merely our original intention to compile this photo collection.

We wish this photo collection will enlarge your knowledge about Tibet and help you to enjoy the beauty within it. It will also encourage out Tibetans today and tomorrow to redouble our efforts in building this treasure land.
