全書內容共分兩部分，第一部分介紹諸神及其神跡，第二部分描寫特洛伊之戰。神話的迷人之處除與真實曆史穿插交織外，神話的主角們也同凡人一般被七情六欲所控製，形象鮮活生動。

這個版本實在是刪減的過分，章節過渡也很糟糕，人物描寫也不連貫。

在錶現眾神莫大力量的同時，集中刻畫瞭他們的欲念等身為“人”的感性因素，眾神利用前者對後者進行束縛以實現絕對統治，即要求人們臣服於自己的欲望。這就引發瞭問題：身份的理性與權力的感性間存在多大程度的彌閤，如果是由身份賦予權力的話，那麼凡人英雄的由來便是無解，反之則奧林匹斯山的存在就無法穩固立足。本書在試圖利用一個個故事做齣解答的過程中也契閤瞭古希臘彌散的固有悲劇色彩，關於眾神的兩麵掙紮，以及凡人利用血肉鋪成的反抗道路。

希臘神話真是百讀不厭。很好奇是誰想齣來的，又為什麼不繼續發展瞭？宙斯會不會被推翻？普羅米修斯會不會被解救？
