The purpose of this book is to thoroughly prepare the reader for research in string theory at an intermediate level. As such it is not a compendium of results but intended as textbook in the sense that most of the material is organized in a pedagogical and self-contained fashion. 沒想到就已經讀瞭6個月瞭。這書缺點是有許多地方語言令人誤解。

作者前一陣子來我們組麵試教授。貌似沒有成功。。。這應該是我最喜歡的一本弦論教材瞭。因為 CFT 講得好。。。我對學術界用書名裝逼痛恨不已。什麼 introduction to, in a nutshell, first lesson, 都老生常談瞭。這又來瞭個 basic concepts。。。日瞭狗瞭。。。

太細緻瞭，感覺作者想撐爆紙。

此書將近八百頁，對弦論的具體框架進行瞭充分的介紹，很多在polchinski中僅僅提一下的問題都在這本書裏有比較係統的論述，相比polchinski這裏對共性場論進行瞭更加詳細的介紹，他們分散在很多章節裏，對一些問題專門從共性場論的角度進行瞭討論。個人認為這是繼polchinski之後最成功的弦論教材，對很多現代專題都進行瞭詳細論述。
